Ceramic material is widely used to manufacture cremation ashes urns. Ceramists blend specially selected ingredients to obtain the ceramic properties required, and with this clay each artist fashions their pieces and gives them a specific finish. Templates are used to make the plaster models which will serve as the moulds for the different models of these ceramic urns. The moulds are used to form the different clay models, which are then removed and the urns left to dry. Once dry, their surfaces are smoothed and they are placed in a kiln and fired at 900°C. Then they are glazed and fired again, although this time at 1050°C. The ashes are placed into the urn through an opening in the base. This can be sealed using transparent suitable sealant.
