The Craftsmanship Behind a Ceramic Cremation Urn for Ashes

Every ceramic urn is the result of an artisanal process that requires time, skill and dedication. It begins with carefully kneading the clay, followed by hand-shaping the urn – often on a potter’s wheel or using a casting mould.

The urn is then slowly dried over several days to prevent cracks before undergoing its first firing (bisque firing) at around 950°C, which hardens the clay and prepares it for glazing.

The signature green-blue glaze is then applied by hand. This glaze not only gives the urn its striking aesthetic, but also protects it from external influences. A second, higher-temperature firing at approximately 1,200°C fuses the glaze to the surface, creating a glossy and durable finish.

Thanks to this intensive process – and the natural variations in how the glaze reacts in the kiln – no two urns are ever the same. Each is a truly unique piece, crafted with care to honour a life like no other.
